Would cleaning with MAF sensor with 91% isopropyl alcohol or 100% acetone be alright?

I don't think so, but I don't want to buy MAF cleaner for something I'll do twice during the whole life of the car -_-

You're probably better off with WD40. Hell, a can of the proper cleaner costs $5.

Maf sensor cleaner is electric parts cleaner which is non-chlorinated carb cleaner which is non chlorinated brake cleaner. Just buy any of those, they all have plenty of uses.

if the car has been ran with an oiled filter it can get clogged up on the sensor which will then skew the readings it gets and performance is then affected by it

Should always be examined in higher-mileage cars, even if it is after the air cleaner.

Yes, you can get funk built up.

Remember, the MAF is (usually) resistor that heats up and is used to measure the flow of the air into the engine. Funk can cake on it over time, since crud still can get through the air filter.

in that case i'll get mine checked tomorrow as it's going in for service , and now clicked over 555,000km.

might even replace o2 sensor as it's still original.

I bet a new O2 sensor and knock sensor would give that old motor a lot of pep back into it. You really should do both of they're the originals.

Buy the can of maf cleaner or electric parts cleaner, it's the right stuff and probably five to eight bucks. I've *heard* that carb and brake parts cleaner is not advised but I'm no mechanic.

I would avoid anything chlorinated or acetone based. Isopropyl on the other hand is probably fine. Just be brief and make sure it's completely dry before you plug it in again.
